“What’s my motherf–kin’ name?” Not Ellie, for starters.
People have been mistaking Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule’s “I’m Real” lyrics for a whopping 15 years. As pointed out by Jezebel on Monday, May 9, Lopez sings “R-U-L-E” in the 2001 track after rapper Ja Rule asks “What’s my motherf–kin’ name?”
We — along with a majority of the population — are guilty of having erroneously sung “Are you Ellie?” instead.
“Just found out that in JLo and Ja Rule’s song ‘I’m Real’ she doesn’t say ‘Are you Ellie?’..she says ‘R-U-L-E’ as in Rule..for Ja Rule 😂😂😂,” one person noted on Twitter on Wednesday.
Others, however, can’t grasp the mishap.

“What would ‘are you Ellie’ even mean?” another asked on Twitter, while a third weighed in with: “Who the hell actually thought it was ‘Are you Ellie’ instead of ‘R-U-L-E’? Y’all dumb.”
At least it’s not Becky.
